hythe station on the romney hythe and dymchurch railway

Hythe retains the central locomotive shunting line. It is worth waiting to watch the locomotive that has just hauled your train reverse down this line and marshal itself onto the turntable, and then return to the train ready for the journey back towards New Romney.Hythe Station is the main starting point for the RH&DR, and it is where most passengers board the trains. The station is situated in the town of Hythe, which is on the south coast of Kent, overlooking the English Channel.

The RH&DR is a popular heritage railway that was originally built in the 1920s. It has a unique narrow-gauge track of 15 inches (381 mm) and operates vintage steam locomotives. The route takes passengers through picturesque scenery, including marshlands and the expansive Dungeness shingle beach.
